Sapphire
Solo project

Overview: Sapphire is a 3d game made by Unity. This is a game that solves a puzzle and escapes by lifting objects that exist on a level with a mouse click. I made all the elements that go into this game, the system, the level, all the effects, etc.

Team Size: Solo

Tools: Unity, Photoshop, C#
Duration: 6month

Goal:

  • Design and tutorialize a puzzle using unique mechanics

  • Create a level based on a real-world location to fit within  like Uncharted

  • Recreate the mechanics of Uncharted and integrate them on top of my unique mechanic.

Collecting References

For this level, I gathered as many references on the portal that might hold exciting gameplay. I then composited some of the best ones and used them to theme each level section.

Puzzle Design:

  • Designed and created intricate puzzles that require players to think critically and creatively.

  • Implemented clues and hints throughout the game to guide players towards solutions.

  • Designed puzzles that require players to work together and communicate effectively.

Room Design:

  • Created immersive and detailed environments that players can explore.

  • Designed rooms with hidden compartments, secret doors, and interactive objects to enhance the game's atmosphere.

  • Implemented lighting and sound effects to create a suspenseful and engaging atmosphere.

Game Flow and User Interface:

  • Designed the game's flow to provide players with a logical progression through the game.

  • Created intuitive user interfaces for menus, inventory management, and clue systems.

  • Implemented save and load systems to allow players to pick up where they left off.

  • Managed and trained puzzle designers to ensure a cohesive and challenging game experience.

  • Worked with artists to ensure a visually stunning and immersive game.

  • Conducted playtesting to ensure the game's puzzles and flow were well-balanced and challenging but not frustrating.
